November's Top Tips!
Check out our top tips for staying happy and healthy during the winter months.
Get the blood pumping
Exercise is always mentioned when it comes to advice for improving lifestyle and happiness. And that’s because it works. When you exercise, your brain releases powerful mind-boosting chemicals called endorphins. There aren’t many feelings like that post-workout high! Better fetch the trainers.
Do a little more of the things you love
Sometimes it can be hard to find time for your hobbies. But remember to make time for the things you love. They’re yours and a little you time is important for everyone. So if you’re a literary lover, spend an evening curled up by the fire with a novel. Or perhaps spending an evening doing nothing but blasting out your favourite albums is more your style? Indulge yourself.
Start planning your New Year’s resolutions
The mind needs purpose like the body needs water. Giving it some is a sure-fire way to improve your general wellbeing. Taking the time to plan your New Year goals, breaking them down into stages and working out how to achieve them gives you a much better chance of success too. It’s win-win!
Explore nature
Believe it or not, there’s such a thing as nature-deficit disorder. Getting back in touch with nature helps to clear the mind and refresh the spirit. It’s a quick fix for the psychological cabin fever that can get you down when you feel lost in the daily grind. Just one more reason to head for a nice long Sunday walk.
Learn an instrument
Playing an instrument is a task that is ideally suited to blocking out worries and clearing the mind. It will also help to stimulate areas of the brain that are not normally triggered in most people’s working days. And that can only be a good thing. It’s never too late to learn. Okay, you might not make it to Wembley, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun.
Take a winter holiday. Or plan your next one.
One way to beat the winter blues is to leave them in the departure lounge as you jet off for sunnier climes. Yes, it’s extravagant. But it will work! If like most people you’re not able to go on holiday at the drop of a hat, try getting stuck in to planning your next holiday. Pick your perfect destination, research hotels and check out the local culture online. It’s easy to see the best side of the UK winter when you’ve got a foreign getaway to look forward to.
