The release of the iPad has revolutionised the way we use the internet. But it’s no longer the only contender in its field. There are now numerous tablets for Windows 7 and Android technology. Whichever your tablet of choice, it’s no secret that apps are becoming increasingly useful and very clever. Here are some suggestions for your collection.
iPad/iPad 2
Yell
Yell is a great app if you live life on the move. Simply open it up to see a map of the services and amenities that are near you. Need an ATM? No problem. How about a quick haircut? You’ve got it! Time for dinner? The app shows you the nearest restaurants in a matter of seconds.
GarageBand
GarageBand not only lets you mess around with virtual pianos, guitars and drums, it allows you to record too. And the preset chords, riffs and beats ensure that you don’t need to be a musical maestro to pen a decent tune. Great fun.

Google Body
Google Body takes you on a journey inside the human anatomy. You can look at anything, from skeleton structure to a comprehensive map of the nervous system. It’s fascinating.
Google Sky Map
If you’ve ever wondered what you’re really looking at when you gaze up at the stars then this app is for you. Hold your tablet up to the night sky and Google Sky Map will map the constellations and tell you exactly what’s twinkling above your head.
Windows 7
OneNote
OneNote is ideal for those that organise on the move. Handwrite notes, add drawn diagrams, record audio that’s time-synced with your files and clip useful information you’ve found online. And when you’re done, you can sync it all to other PCs.
Marvel Comics
Marvel Comics have begun digitalising their legendary back catalogue. So now you can stretch out on the sofa with Spider-Man, commute with Conan the Barbarian and curl up in bed with the Hulk. Incredible.
