Actimel decorations!

Actimel decorations!

Forget boughs of holly. This Christmas you can deck the halls with Actimel bottles. And we’ve got the proof. Take a look at these creative DIY decoration ideas.

We love Christmas at Actimel. So rather than saying “humbug” as high street decorations started springing up, they got us thinking: “How can we make the Actimel bottle a little more Christmassy?” So we spoke to the elves at our digital agency, asked them to get into the Actimel festive spirit and waited to see what they came up with. When they surfaced, it was clear that the Actimel bottle is more versatile than you would think!

Decorations

These decorations look great and they’re easy to make too. The instructions are suitable for children if you have a set of crafty little fingers that you can put on decoration duty, but we must advise adult supervision.

The Angel

No Christmas tree is complete without an angel floating around somewhere. This easy to make decoration looks great among the branches.

Angel

Instructions:

  • Get two empty bottles of Actimel. Wash them out and dry them.
  • Take the Actimel sleeve off the bottle and cut into a double wing shape.
  • Cut the bottom of one of the Actimel bottles off with a Stanley knife. This is going to make the angel’s dress. This stage should of course be completed by an adult.
  • Cut from the base of the bottle until 2/3rd up the side of the bottle and repeat so that you end up with lots of strips about 0.75cm wide.
  • Take one of the strips and fold it half way down at a 45 degree angle towards the inside of the bottle. Fold it over the next strip and under the next two.
  • Take the next strip along, fold it half way down at a 45 degree angle towards the inside of the bottle. Fold it over the next two strips and under the next one.
  • Repeat this until you get all the way around the bottle. Then you have made the dress.
  • Take the next Actimel bottle and cut the very top of the bottle off to use as the halo.
  • Again cut the bottle into strips up until ¾ of the bottle (this time from the top of the bottle towards the base of the bottle). Cut the strips thinner this time.
  • Leave two strips long on both the front and the back of the bottle and cut the rest of the strips off so that the bottle is a little smaller. This is going to become the head of the angel.
  • Twist the strips together so that the bottle starts to become a head shape.
  • Place the head over the top of the other bottle and stick with double sided sticky tape on the inside of the bottle using the two longer strips on the head.
  • Stick the halo onto the top of the head at an angle using a piece of rolled up double sided sticky tape.
  • Stick the wings onto the dress using double sided sticky tape.

The Snowman

Whatever happens with the weather this yuletide, it will be a white Christmas in your house with the addition of this jolly snowman.

Snowman

Instructions:

  • Remove the foil from the Actimel bottle and stick a ping pong ball onto the neck of the bottle.
  • Make the snowman’s top hat by cutting a circle from card, and then cutting a second circle within it so that it will make the rim of the hat and sit nicely on the top of the ping pong ball.
  • Cut a length of card and, using sticky tape or glue, bend it round so that it will attach to the inner circle that you have cut out. Use the circle that you cut out initially to make the top of the hat – this can be held in place with sticky tape or glue.
  • Attach the hat to the ping pong ball using glue.
  • Using felt or any material that is available, cut a long strip to wrap around the neck of the Actimel bottle to make the snowman’s scarf. Use glue or tie the ends to hold it in place.
  • Cut a triangle of orange card to make the nose. Stick this onto the centre of the ping pong ball.
  • Use a marker pen to draw on the eyes, mouth and buttons.
  • Collect twigs from the garden, that can be used as arms. With the help of an adult, make a hole on either side of the bottle and push the twigs into the bottle.

Santa stuck up the chimney

We’re proud of this one. It’s an entire festive scene in one bottle! Have a go and dazzle all with your creative ingenuity. We won’t say a word. Promise.

Chimney

Instructions:

  • Take one bottle of Actimel, drink it, clean it, dry it.
  • Cut a rectangular hole in the side of the bottle, this will be the fire place.
  • Decorate around the hole with paint or stickers to represent brickwork.
  • Paint the inside of the bottle black.
  • Gather a small number of inch long twigs, and tear strips of orange and yellow paper into small flames.
  • Use PVA glue to stick the twigs and paper together inside the hole to represent a fire.
  • From a separate piece of paper, draw and cut out Santa’s legs and boots.
  • Stick them into the top of the hole with PVA glue.
