Autumn’s chill is ideal for clearing the head and tingling the toes. But it’s important not to get too chilly. Here are some quick tips.

Autumn

Knit your own jumper

Why not? It’s cheap, it’s fun and it’s a great little project. Start now and with a little bit of fabric fortitude and woolly willpower, you’ll have a snugly homemade jumper ready for when it starts to get really cold. Perfect.

Take a long, hot bath

When you feel chilled to the bone, there’s nothing better than a long hot soak in the tub – especially after a tough day. It’s a home comfort that goes out the window during the humid evenings of summer, but the changing of the season means it’s time for some pampering. Fetch those bubbles!

Exercise!

You’ll soon forget about the cold once you set about working up a sweat, so try going for a brisk walk, a cycle or a run. Now, we know that starting a workout is the hardest thing when it’s cold, but you’ll soon feel the body-warming benefits – we promise! And if the weather outside really is intolerable, put your favourite workout DVD on and get moving. You won’t regret it.

Stick the kettle on

Hot drinks really will help to warm you up so don’t neglect the occasional tea, coffee or hot chocolate. If you’re really struggling, a nice bowl of soup can be just the trick. Try the Actimel-infused soup recipe featured in this month’s newsletter. It’s delicious!

Keep those doors shut!

It sounds boring, but it’s amazing how quickly a cosy house can turn into something not far off a fridge when external doors are left open. So it’s quick in and outs only! Internal doors should be kept shut too. It will help your rooms retain their temperature.
