Good things come in small packages. We think that's why Actimel's still going strong more than 20 years after we sold our first bottle.
Our recipe contains L.casei Danone cultures (completely unique to us, by the way), and vitamins B6 and D which help millions of people support their immune system on a daily basis.
It started with an idea. Let's pack all the goodness of yogurt into a drinkable daily shot. Why not?
First there was yogurt. Then there was Actimel. It was small. It was mighty. It was tasty and drinkable and packed with great things. We've liked challenging the norm from the very beginning. This is our story.
1987 – We're on the L.Casei
We begin to investigate the properties of fermented milk and take the first steps to develop a tasty yogurt drink that could be part of a healthy diet, on a daily basis.
1990 - Time to concentrate
We discover our own culture, and name it L.casei Danone. We create a unique slow fermentation process that takes over eight hours, allowing the cultures to grow in the best possible conditions. This means we can pack billions of these cultures into every bottle, creating a super-concentrated yogurt shot.
1994 - Actimel cultured shot is launched
The iconic Actimel bottles are launched in Belgium, followed by the UK and Ireland in 1999. The world quickly takes this dinky drink to its heart.
2000 – All around the world
In just six years, Actimel has expanded around the world, helping people in 20 countries stay strong every day.
2010 - Now with added vitamins
Actimel gets even more active ingredients with the addition of vitamins B6 and D to help support the normal function of the immune system.
2018 - Actimel 0% Fat 0% Added sugar launches
You asked, we delivered: delicious Actimel shots, now with 0% fat and 0% added sugar
2020 - Time to Supermix things up
Our new Supermix range is here. Bursting with delicious fruits and exotic ingredients, all with 0% fat and 0% added sugar. What's not to love?
2020 – Our cultured shot has gone Dairy free!
The world has changed and so have we! We are bringing our decades of experience into the new world… the plant based world! Our Actimel 100% dairy free is topped with juicy blueberries or mango and passionfruit. Why not give it a shot?
2021 – Now Rich in Vitamin D!
We know Vitamin D can help to support the normal function of the immune system, so we’ve packed even more into our delicious shots* so you can get up to 1/3 of the daily reference intake in a bottle! *all ranges except 100% dairy free
